Forbes has released their annual
list for the top 5 wealthiest hip hop artist of 2015. Taking the number one
spot of the list this year is Sean Combs (Diddy) with his wealth coming in over
$735 million. Diddy reaches this position with the assistance of products like
Ciroc, Aquahydrate water, the Sean John Clothing brand and his Revolt music
network. Diddy founded the Revolt music
network with the idea of it being a next generation MTV but with more focus on
music.
Placing behind Diddy in the number
2 spot is Dr. Dre at $700 million with help from his Beats By Dre and Apple ventures.
Dr.Dre’s 2014 Beats sales earned him the largest single year payday for any
musician in history! Jay-Z takes number
3 with over $550 million; we’ll see how Jigga’s new Tidal streaming service
contributes into his spot next time around. 50 cent comes in 4th
with $155 million with his SMS headphone line, Effen vodka and Frigo underwear brands
support. Topping out the list is Birdman
the CEO of Cash Money, he falls back a spot from the previous year and ranks
number 5 with $150 million despite turbulence within the company.
